![]() We enjoyed the breakfast - typical European - nice breads, pastries, yogurts, grains, fruits and fruit juices plus eggs, sausages etc. The bed was very comfortable, there was a desk that you could work at with regular and USB ports and the view of the cathedral was so close that we had to close our blinds! The minibar was not included but was quite reasonably priced - 5E for a half bottle of wine. The rooms were well appointed - nice size closet with lots of hangers and separate rooms for the toilet and shower were appreciated. There was a very nice sauna and lounge area and while the fitness equipment was limited, it appeared to be top of the line and would suit anyone's needs on vacation. We didn't use the spa after this, but if we had more time we definitely would have. We arrived a lot earlier than check-in, but were able to use their spa area to get refreshed. Admittedly, this hotel was more expensive than a few other comparisons, but the location for a short trip could not be beat, especially because the subway literally had an entrance at the hotel's doorstep. Also, we had limited time in Vienna, so we wanted to be as central as possible. We wanted a place that had history, but still felt like a nice/upscale/comfortable hotel experience. This hotel offered a boutique/modern feel in the heart of one of the most historic locations in Vienna. We bought a Vienna Card, which got is into all the attractions free, but only once, so don't rush round thinking you can return to finish the next day. We couldn't have picked a worse 4 days weather-wise, bit there was so much to do, it didn't matter. Everything was excellent, particularly the outstanding service! VIENNA: We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Vienna. The next day, we went to Café Demel and had coffee and cakes. VERY unimpressed with the service, particularly one member of staff (a young girl who completely ignored us stood waiting to be seated), BUT the apple strudel was divine, and dairy-free. We had afternoon coffee and apple strudel at Café Mozart. We also ate a couple of times at the Quest stalls and that too was excellent. I was very nervous about having boiled meat (served in a copper saucepan), but it was excellent, plus I had broth for a starter. ![]() The porter was outstanding, a real asset to the hotel! FOOD: we ate at Plachutta (Wollzeile) very close to the hotel and the meal was fabulous - very traditionally Austrian. SERVICE: The staff were helpful and professional at all times. ROOM: spacious, comfortable bed, triple-glazed windows and air-con, plus separate toilet, shower and bath and separated dressing area with plenty of hanging space, storage and a safe. DIETARY: I also had the fridge full of lactofree milk, butter and my gluten-free bread, BUT this is the first hotel I've ever stayed in that provided ALL of these things, as well as lactofree yoghurt at breakfast! The BREAKFAST was excellent good quality meats, cheeses, a selection of fruit and fresh-pressed juices, such as beetroot and apple, carrot and ginger. Many shops and restaurants surrounded the hotel. A lot of sights are within walking or easy commuting distance. The underground was really useful (travel pass included in hotel package). LOCATION: I chose this hotel due to its excellent and wasn't disappointed. We didn't make the most of this as we had taken champagne to have the first night, so make sure you use what's in there for it to be restocked. The hotel did, however, offer us a complimentary mini-bar instead. We were very disappointed not to get the cocktails expected in this package - it was the key reason for booking this package over the others on offer (the café where the drinks are served was closed). We had a very enjoyable three nights at the hotel to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday.
